About Us

The Charlottesville Women’s Choir (CWC) started in 1984 with just four members.  More than thirty years later, the CWC has grown to 40 members.  CWC is a self-directed choir; various members volunteer to teach and direct our songs.  Volunteers also manage the business of the choir.

Prior to March 2020, the CWC rehearsed every Monday evening from September through May, 6:45–8:30 p.m., at Sojourners United Church of Christ in Charlottesville.  Members who wish to continue to gather weekly do so virtually with an occasional in person gathering.

The Choir hopes to continue its tradition of performing an annual spring benefit concert when it is safe to sing together once more.  CWC also sings at various community events and venues such as the SHE Vigil, International Day of Peace, Sojourners United Church of Christ, and the Fluvanna Correctional Center for Women.
